When "Kobe Bryant: A League of His Own" came across my desk, I naturally had an interest in reviewing the book. I've been watching NBA basketball since I was a little kid, and Kobe Bryant has long been the enemy of some of my favorite teams over the years. When I was a Suns fan from 2004-2012, I remember how much I wanted to see Kobe lose when he had to face Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs during those years: I remember the thrill of watching the Suns come back from a 3-1 series deficit in the 2006 playoffs and the dominating 4-1 series win in the first round of the 2007 playoffs, and I also remember the bittersweet 2010 playoffs when Kobe, Paul Gasol, and company beat my favorite Suns team of all-time 4-2 in the Western Conference Finals.When I was a Heat fan from 2010-2014, I took great pride in watching Lebron and Wade dominate against Kobe's Laker teams in the regular season.Having said all that, I am man enough to admit that when it comes to talent, Kobe was one of the top-10 players in the NBA when he was in his prime and at the end of his prime before the injuries caught up to him. Since I've seen Kobe play on television countless times over the years, it was with great interest that I wanted to read "Kobe Bryant: A League of His Own".As far as what the book covers, we get a look into Kobe's upbringing as a child all the way up to when he was drafted. After that, we have 1-2 page summaries of each and every season of Kobe's career that basically gave the lowdown of what the team did on the season, and what they did in the playoffs. We also have a chapter that lists all of the weightlifting exercises that Kobe does, and we have chapters containing interesting facts about Kobe as well as a chapter listing all the accolades and statistics that Kobe acquired over the course of his NBA career. Throughout the book are a number of high-quality color pictures of Kobe in action.One of the book's positive features is that it contains all of the necessary information about Kobe that an 8-10 year-old basketball fan would want to know, which is what Kobe and his team did in each season, and a player card containing Kobe's overall stat line in each season. Aside from a couple typos, the book's grammar was clean, and it was formatted well for Kindle. One of the things I didn't like about the book is that the book is marketed in a way that makes you think that you're about to get a lot of information about what was going on with Kobe behind the scenes and in-between seasons, and I was let down by the fact that such information was not present. Personally, I would have liked more details about Kobe's behind-the-scenes relationship with Shaq back in the early 2000s, and I would have liked more information about Kobe's relationship with his teammates during the 2007-2013 time frame. Giving us access to such information would have given us a lot better idea of what Kobe was like as a person and teammate.If you're looking for a deep, comprehensive book about the life of Kobe on and off the court that gives you an idea of what he was like as a person, then you probably will want to stay clear of this book. However, if you're an 8-10 year-old basketball fan looking to learn more about one of best players in NBA history, or you know an 8-10 year-old basketball fan who would love to read such a book, then I would recommend you show them "Kobe Bryant: A League of His Own".

Very informative book! Im a basketball fan and this book really showed me a ton that i didn't know about Kobe. I was really impressed with the journey and the struggles he faced, he had a lot of hurdles to jump over as well as injuries and he STILL kept going. I was shocked to find out English wasn't his first language; there is so much to learn from this book about Kobe - most people assume that superstars are just the lucky few who shine over all others but we do not realize the hard-work that they put in to get where they are. This book is a good read for anyone who needs motivation to keep working hard or anyone who needs proof that hard work pays off. Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant is a true top player of basketball on and off the court - His accomplishments speak for them self. Excellent book, i recommend this to all readers.

Ive always been a kobe bryant fan! Now more than ever after reading this book. Everybody knows kobe scored 81 points in a game, but i didnt know he broke the record for most missed shots in the nba! Kobe believed you must take risks and fail to achieve on the highest level. This book is packed with great insight on kobe's life on and off the court! A must read for true black mamba fans!!!

This book was a great read. I truly think that Kobe is one of the top-five best basketball players of all time. The book goes through Kobe's life before being a superstar. I liked this because ESPN never covers his life, they only cover his awards, and it was really cool to read about his incredible work ethic. Kobe wasn't born an amazing basketball player, he worked dang hard to earn all of his accolades. Towards the end of the book, it talks about the day the Black Mamba was drafted by the Lakers, which I had never heard about either. He was drafted in the first round, but was picked 13th overall! That means that 12 other teams passed on him! Can you imagine if he had gone to any other team? This Kobe Bryant biography is a perfect addition to any Kobe fan's library. I am an avid Kobe fan and this book taught me a lot about his life that I had never read before!

Honest opinion, I expected better. I noticed grammatical errors.

I will caveat this with the fact that I haven't read the book cover-to-cover, but from what I have read so far and the recipes I've tried, I really like this book! The tips and advice in the first portion of the book are great and I learned some new things that I've already started incorporating into my kitchen routine. I think what I find most appealing about this book is that it encourages us to think outside the box with our cooking and use of resources, while also providing easy recipes to get you started down this path. The tone of the writing is conversational and easy to read and approach.The first recipe I tried was the lemony broccoli stem and chickpea toast, which I enjoyed. I swapped out traditional broccoli stems with broccoli rabe stems and it was delicious - I recommend it!

This book has taught me so much about how to use food I used to throw out. Some of the recipes are even going into my "permanent collection"--pumpkin gut scones, banana peel cake, and cauliflower core dip. The illustrations are gorgeous to boot. Love it!

I've now officially tried a handful of recipes from this book and can seriously say they are amazing...how does someone make something from the stuff I'd normally toss? It's so nice to have a cookbook that inspires me to do better and to think outside the box.

I absolutely adore this cookbook. It is perfect for me and I will definitely be purchasing more as gifts for people. You just can’t beat the price!! Such a fun idea for a cookbook.

This was a gift and the recipient said she loved it. Gave her many new ideas and will be helpful to her sister who is allergic to many common items so the substations of scraps for those items will be a godsend.

I've been cooking for years and I love that this book makes me think outside the box. I find myself now creating dishes around my scraps instead of using them to fill my garbage bin. Lindsey-Jean is witty and has a very laid back approach to cooking. I see my produce aisle in a whole new light and my kids are excited to try new dishes made out of watermelon rinds and banana peels. Such a fun and creative book!

This book has a lot of really good information about using "scraps" in ways that are so simple yet I never would have thought to do them! It's an enjoyable read also. I'm looking forward to trying several recipes soon.

I'm so pleased with this purchase! I never realized how much food I was wasting.
