It's rather 'thin' in substance compared to the Bradt Guide. I use both, but prefer Bradt for deeper content.

Neither the Lonely Planet travel guide nor the Bradt travel guide are all that great, but they are about all that is available. At least the street map for Tana was reasonably useful. Aside from that, the hard copy Lonely Planet guide is useful as kindling if you need to start a fire. Photos are better than the Bradt guide.

This is fiction based on something powerful but the topic is handled sympathetically, albeit via the initial and ongoing personal touch and emotional connection of sex. A mutual sorrow over Rob’s death may be the catalyst for Thomas and Zack’s coming together, but sexual healing is definitely a tie that binds in the beginning, which progresses to communication, support, understanding and so much more.I won't go into any more of the plot because that spoils a beautiful read.Overall:A beautifully heartfelt book, I inhaled Weight of the World in one sitting and I rarely do that nowadays. I was actually sick as I read but I refused to put it down – it refused to let me. As far as I’m concerned that is unadulterated entertainment gold. Characters who tug at my heartstrings and make me feel to my core, combined with a good story and a need to turn those pages, trump anything else in my reading world.And look at that cover. I can definitely say that it matches the intensity and passion that permeates the writing.I really enjoy reading good books, whatever the story may be, and I’ve read some very good, very diverse books this year. Weight of the World is a true gem and a must read for everyone who enjoys raw emotions, genuine characters, real depth, and doesn’t mind a plot woven around the heartbreaking event of someone taking their own life. Yes. You heard it right. Although this is a romance novel, the basic idea of the book is how to overcome the fact someone you know, someone you love commit suicide. I’m not sure if there is a trigger warning, but if suicide is not a topic you want to read about, Weight of the World is not a story for you.This is the first collaboration between the two authors and I believe they create a wonderful and very powerful match. This book is gripping and I couldn’t stop reading. The story is told from three first person POVs and it brings the story and the characters all the more closer to the reader. My emotions were all over the place while reading, as the story and certain elements hit way too close to home for comfort. I have lost friends to suicide. I did have periods in my life when being Atlas was the only option. This book made me think of periods in my life I’d rather forget, but reexamining, evaluating our lives may lead to progress, and give us hope that we can do more, we can do better, and we have to try to live our lives the fullest.The writing is flawless, the storyline is perfectly built, and the chemistry is over the top between Tommy and Zack. Their pain is palpable, their emotions and struggles are beautifully portrayed, and their forming relationship is one of the best orchestrated unions I have ever read. The cherry on top for me was the epilogue. It brought the book in full circle, and I was crying like a baby reading it.I’m saying Carpe Diem and read this book. Highly recommended!

Weight of the World is an appropriate title for this book. It's a heavy read, as it should be given the subject matter. It is not for someone that is faint of heart. This is a deeply emotional and painful journey for two individuals looking for answers to a tragedy that affects entirely too many people. I knew from the first chapter that it would have me in tears, and it did. Numerous times. Of the four main characters, we get to know Tommy and Zack through individual chapters from their own perspective, and in their own unique, superbly written voices. They are tied together for vastly different reasons by the same tragic event involving Tommy's brother, Robbie. All of this is readily available in the blurb. What is not is information about the fourth character, and that would be Survivor's Guilt. The depth of pain that Tommy and Zack feel is adamantly clear, it is a virtually tangible thing, and evident in the motivations of the two leads. This is NOT a by-the-numbers book, and, again, it shouldn't be. There were times I wanted to put it down because it made me emotionally raw. But, I found I couldn't. I WANTED them to get through it. I WANTED them to be together. I NEEDED them to be ok. It took me some time to fully process this book, to give it the consideration that I felt it deserved. The ONLY problem I had with this book was the fact that I wished the last two chapters and epilogue were longer. I found myself re-reading all three just so I could fully absorb the outcome. This is a brilliant, painful, hopeful book that I highly, highly, highly, highly recommend

I have been read The Dresden Files novels and enjoyed them immensely, and knew of the graphic novels, but waited for this omnibus to test the waters. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the books translated into the realm graphic novels. It's interesting to see different artists' takes on the characters I have come to know and love. Also, for the sheer size of this omnibus compared to the prices of other graphic novels of equal size, this is a great deal.If you are a fan of the books, I highly recommend it. If you are looking for a new comic to fully immerse yourself in, I still highly recommend it.It is a modern world steeped with hidden magics and terrors, not to mention some great dialogue and banter.

I'm really enjoying going back and reading the books I already know -- with the graphic novel images. It's surprising to me how many of my own mental images of the stories match up with what's been drawn (and how many don't!). Got this an 3 others for Christmas, as well as the Dresden RPG books which all have little bonus bits of the big story arch of the Dresden Files series. It's been great fun!!!

I love Jim Butcher's work and I 'm starting to really dig graphic novels (the latter has become a growing obsession). This omnibus has great stories and excellent art. My one major criticism (which dropped it a star) is that the stories were poorly edited. I found several glaring typos that kinda took me out of the moment. Also, the physical book is a little hard to manage. I find that after a certain page count, especially when the binding isn't the best, paper back editions of comics tend to get fragile. Otherwise, it's worth the buy.

First, I am a big fan of Jim Butcher's work. (e.g. We just went to Dragon Con 2016 to listen to him on panels).So I may be biased in my comments....PROGreat artwork and good story that feels right inlined with Jim's Dresden World. My guess if you like Jim's work you will love the stories.CONTechnical Issue. Using Kindle on a Apple 27" iMAC to view / read the series has found so far concern with readability.For pages set Horizontal vs Vertical (e.g. Locations 70 and 133) the story print text is too small to read full screen on a 27" iMAC monitor ... The print is clean so a magnifying glass can let you read it but not for me with 20/20 ....SUMMARYI love it .. outside the reading issue ....

WOW! Love the artwork in this graphic novel!Love the Dresden files books, decided to give this graphic novel a try. I was very impressed with the art work in this novel. This novel contains the first several books int eh Dresden files series, and also contains a couple of short stories that are not included int he series.

Beautiful illustrations with deep color transitions. And who doesn't love a good Dresden tale?!?!?! Excellent read, my boys have read volume I & II and are asking when I will get more. Thank you, Mr. Butcher, for helping my kids love to read as much as I do.

We used this book for a 15 day driving trip around the island but just felt it was a bit weak on interesting places to check out or call to your attention where something out of the ordinary might be.

Back to Kiwi country via Self Drive Tours and this book is perfect compliment. We tried other books, but this one is like you are driving the islands, which we are, so it is easiest to find restaurants / local treats.

I might repeat some of the points already made in the previous review, but my main goal in this review is to let you know what to expect before you buy this book. I first want to say that it is a wonderful book and it is extremely successful at what it tries to accomplish, but I must qualify that by saying that this is not really a book that you will "learn" from. I bought this book expecting something that I can read from front to back, and I thought I might learn new tips and strategies -- I think "Blackjack Secrets", one of Wong's other books, is better for that, though I haven't read it yet. It definitely seems more "readable". "Basic Blackjack" is more of a reference than a learning manual, and you may not need this book at all. Here is what I mean:The book is organized like this:Chapter 1 - Introduction (nothing special, just a usual intro)Chapter 2 - Basic Strategy (this may be all you need from this book; it discusses and gives the chart for Basic Strategy under the most common rules; this information can also be gotten in other books or online -- try [...] for their Basic Strategy engine)Chapters 3-15 - variations of Basic Strategy (this is the majority of the book; it gives charts for changes that need to be made in B.S. depending on odd rules you may find in casinos, such as doubling down on any number of cards or decks that include jokers)Chapters 16-18 - other tricks that you can use (contains some interesting information on tells and warps, but it is really only valuable in certain situations)My point in outlining the book is to show you that the bulk of its contents is simply variations of B.S. depending on strange rules you may encounter. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting just to read about all the weird rules and side bets you might find in some casinos, but for most people I doubt they will need to learn any of this strategy. Even the information on tells and warps, though fascinating, isn't always applicable; it requires that the dealer check the hole card under a 10. The casino where I play uses an electronic device to check the card, so the dealer never sees it -- pretty much voiding the use of tells and warps.I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying this book, because it is very interesting, if not always relevant for your particular situation. I just want you to know what to expect before you purchase it.

The title is misleading. This is a must have for many APs. I let someone borrow my copy and now regret it. He covers odd situations and strategies to exploit them when you come across them. At first, you think, "when would this happen? In the 80s??" Some of these opportunities you will never see, but when you come across one, and you don't have your book to reference, it's costing you money. If you want every edge you can get, you need this book.

bad writing, missed his audiance, title is miss leading, writing is disorganized and hard to follow. I am someone who has been to vegas 100+ times and played thousands of hours of blackjack. this book is just bad.

This has to be the worst book ever. It is dry, boring and very difficult to read. Some of the stories tell you how to cheat and a lot of them are just meaningless. I threw this book in the trash, I didn't want anyone else to have to endure this GARBAGE!!
