Amazon has done us a huge disservice by lumping all the reviews for the various "original" versions of this book together. The version I purchased (black cover with money on the bottom, kindle version) is riddled with errors where the publisher evidently SCANNED the book in and then didn't bother to edit the results. Page numbers appear randomly in the middle of paragraphs, "m" appears where clearly "in" was intended and in some cases paragraphs just end in the middle of a sentence. This is a great book but some of the publishers have done a terrible job reproducing it and Amazon isn't helping by grouping very different copies together in the same review group.I hope to update this review when I find a less crappy copy of this book, but avoid the version with the black cover with money on the bottom. (See pictures)
First, i was thinking that this book will only help me in the performance part of my life, by giving tips, habits and principles of the most succesfull people on the planet. But my image of the book changed when i read all of it. It helps also on how to become an incredible person, how to treat people and how to see all that happens to you in a different way.Second, it talks about BELIEVING, it says that in order to reach whatever you seek you first have to believe and have faith in your abilities, in the plan that God has for you and to BELIEVE IN YOU!! Also it teaches you that you need to have faith, persistance and very BIG BIG dreams. For all of you that are reading this review i want to tell you THAT YOU CAN DO IT!! YOU WERE BORN TO BE GREAT!! But people dont believe it because of what other people says about them but ignore the negative people and STAY LOCKED WITH YOUR DREAM, DONT LET ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO THINK. IGNORE THEM AND STAY FOCUS ON YOUR PURPOSE. I WANT TO TELL YOU THAT I BELIEVE IN YOU AND I LOVE YOU. YOU CAN MAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!
I have read over 50 self-help books in my life so far. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is in my TOP 5! In fact, I personally know two millionaires (one being a family member) and both HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book! The family member originally moved to the United States in his early 30's and hardly spoke a word of English. Actually started off delivering pizzas. One day he was gifted the book Think and Grow Rich by a very wealthy customer. He devoured this book and read it over 20 times! A decade later he became a millionaire (Net Worth: ~10 Million USD). True story. In fact, if you do your research you will learn that Think and Grow Rich has produced the most millionaires out of any self-help product.FRAUD ALERT ABOUT CLAIMED "UNABRIDGED" VERSIONS:Yes, this is an amazing book! However, there are so many versions of this book. Amazon clumps all of the reviews of the various editions in to one group which adds to the confusion. The BEST version is the 1937 ORIGINAL. Many publishers of this book claim that there version is the 1937 ORIGINAL UNABRIDGED. Then you read the introduction and find out that the publisher revised it, abridged or "modernized" it. Thus making the original claim FALSE/LIE! Most interestingly, these revised/updated versions remove essential key words such as the word VIBRATIONS. The removal/substitution of this word completely changes the context of the sentence. I am a fairly spiritual person and reading the original unmodified 1937 version was MUCH MORE PROFOUND to me. In fact, so much of an affect that in 6 months of reading the original my salary increased by 50% WHILE working from home 98%. Naturally, I gave away all of the other versions I hadI spent over 10 HOURS reading through many comments on Amazon and Google. My goal was to find truly REAL 1937 ORIGINAL UNABRIDGED versions. Here are the BEST FORMATS of the ACTUAL REAL 1937 ORIGINAL UNABRIDGED VERSIONS of Think and Grow Rich:Kindle Version: Think and Grow Rich: The Original 1937 Unedited Edition - Created by the OFFICIAL Napoleon Hill Foundation. Unfortunately, their physical book format is terrible. I think they simply photocopied the original and then tried to fit it on each page. The results, the font is too small and there is a TON of wasted white space for the margins. It is simply awful to read even though the their intentions were good. The most readable physical book version I have found is by Melvin Powers linked below.Physical Book Version: Think and Grow Rich - Facsimile Edition that is by forward Melvin Powers.Enjoy!P.S. I would be grateful if someone could point me to a good quality audiobook that is 100% for certain is a narration of the ACTUALLY REAL 1937 ORIGINAL UNABRIDGED VERSION.

Other reviews here said this book was full of inaccuracies. Heck if I know. I'm a lay person. I found it very easy to read filled with great factoids like algin in algae is used in ice-cream, frozen foods, toothpaste and floor polish or one-third of the corn crop and one-half of the soybean and cotton crops are genetically modified. If you want a fun introduction into the gross world of germs and viruses, this book does the job. What got me interested in micro-biology is the mind-blowing fact that mitochondria co-evolving inside us have their own DNA and we use that DNA to track our ancestors on our mother's side. Also, there are such things as bacteriophages that kill bacteria and without them the world would be covered in bacterial slime. Also, there's more bacteria cells inside and on us than human cells.
As a Microbiology student, I ordered this by recommendation from a former student. It's ok. It does not go into great detail, as your course book will, and you most certainly will not get all of the knowledge you need from this. It is mostly an overview type book, in my opinion. Wish I had it before I began the class just to get warmed up.
The book gives a clear and concise view of microbiology. I ordered it for an Intro to Microbio class and am already enjoying it! The quizzes and information is all important and there is no filler, unless your course doesn't cover it. As a science enthusiast, I would read this cover-to-cover as a bedtime book, it really is entertaining.

Most code is simple and doesn't cover the edge cases, which is where true expertise often lies.Fluent Python skips over the basics, which you can easily get online with any tutorial, and rapidly points to Python-specific features rarely present in other languages, Python implementation details and their rationale along with additional external references such as articles or blog posts for those interested in learning more about the subject. It really felt like a treasure box to me.So many programming books simply describe a language feature and call it a day. I found M. Ramalho's approach infinitely more useful for a professional developer. It also shows alternative expert opinions, where a particular feature may be useful or not, etc. It's an approach that is not as clean or as concise, but engineering rarely is and Python knowledge is no exception.
As the title and description suggest, this book truly is to achieve 'fluency' in Python. It touches on nearly every point of the language that is pythonic, describing not just the how and the what, but the why. This book is definitely not a good beginner book for Python (however, someone extremely well versed in Java or C++ could probably benefit from it, if they relied on more basic information from alternative sources), but I wouldn't say it's only for expert users. This book touches on a very wide selection of subjects, from some pretty common Python concepts, like Duck Typing, generators, and function and class decorators to more advanced subjects like abstract base classes, multiple inheritance, mixins, and meta programming. The prose is easy to read and even entertaining. It may be the first programming book I read for enjoyment, and not just reference.Luciano demonstrates that he truly is fluent in Python, and while probably 25% of the chapters were not on any subject that is useful to me, all of them yielded new information and helpful hints, and even tips and tricks to increase performance or readability of the code. I would think that, given the wide range of topics, at least 30% of the book will be extremely helpful to your specific use case, regardless of what that is.
Author has a deep understanding of the language and is a gifted instructor. There is nothing even close to it in terms of depth and clarity for modern Python. Part V which includes coverage of asyncio is worth the price of the whole book. Coverage of more elementary topics such as references, mutability etc are also great. My highest recommendation.
If you like Python and enjoy programming, you are doing yourself a disservice not reading this book. I bought this book for a few months ago and I didn't read it until now. If you want a comprehensive reference book for Python, buy Python Essential Reference (4th Edition) by David Beazley instead of this book, because this book is more about understanding the language as a whole instead of describing every particular detail. Also, if you just want some high-quality example code to use, check out Python Cookbook, 3rd edition, also by David Beazley. In fact, the author of "Fluent Python" recommends both of these books in different chapters of Fluent Python.
One of the best Python books I have read. As the title says, Clear, Concise, and Effective.If I had only one Python book to take to that desert island (and a notebook and infinite power supply), this would be it. It goes into the hows, whys, and actual implementation details under the hood. There's also a good amount of soapboxing which I agree with. Reminds me a bit of "Higher-Order Perl" with the dives into the inner workings of the language.

It goes into plenty of detail, so it's great for experts and novices alike. The book is fine as far as it goes. But I wish I had realized when I bought it that it was just the original large format comics reduced down to a tiny page size. Makes it hard to read and less engaging. went out and bought the original size ones.
The books themselves are classics, but in these reproductions, the entire page is 5x7 inches. As other reviewers have pointed out, they are far too small to comfortably read or to enjoy the illustrations. I returned them.
Having read volume 2 of this collection I can honestly say that Herge took some time to find his feet with the series. The first two Tintin books, Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and Tintin in the Congo, were so racially and culturally insensitive that they have rarely been reprinted and aren't even included in this collection. The first story in this volume, Tintin in America, isn't quite that bad, but it is still on the tail of the same trend. It's a boring, repetitive story that's racially insensitive. The other two stories, however, mark the beginning of a turning point in the series. Cigars of the Pharaoh and The Blue Lotus are two connected stories that are deep, complex, and entertaining beyond belief. The stories in volume 2 just get better. So if you buy this and are knee-deep into Tintin in America and aren't feeling it, know that it's not representative of the series as a whole, and maybe consider just skipping to Cigars of the Pharaoh.
Long before Steven Spielberg discovered Tintin, I was reading his comic book adventures in both English and French. (In English, you pronounce his name Tin-Tin, while in French, you pronounce it Tan-Tan.) When my wife and I visited Quebec City one summer, I bought several French versions of Tintin in a local bookstore. They have given me hours of pleasure._The Adventures of Tintin_, vol. 1 (2007) is an omnibus of three early Tintin adventures: _Tintin in America_, _The Cigars of the Pharaoh_, and _The Blue Lotus_. The last two are direct sequels to one another, with _Lotus_ continuing the plot of _Pharaoh_. I believe that they have a freshness that is lacking in some of the later adventures.The setting of the stories is a bit dated. There are speakeasies and Chicago gangsters in _America_. (Al Capone makes a brief appearance.) And the Japanese are invading China and walking out of the League of Nations in _Lotus_. But I'm glad that no attempt was made to modernize them. The thirties flavor is part of their charm.These adventures take place before the entrance of the bibulous Captain Haddock and the auditorily challenged Professor Calculus. But that ever faithful dog Snowy is there, and the Chinese boy, Chang. And so are those bowler-hatted detectives, the Thom(p)son twins; though in these stories, they are more concerned with arresting Tintin for crimes that he didn't commit than with helping him. That villainous seaman Allan makes his first appearance in _Cigars_. He will make a later appearance in _The Crab with the Golden Claws_.The stories are Saturday afternoon serial adventures laced with slapstick humor. Tintin is tossed into the river, falls off of cliffs, faces firing squads, is lost at sea in a coffin, is toppled into meat grinding machinery, is caught by a snare (in a straight jacket, no less), has boulders toppled towards him, is tied up on a railroad track... and frequently escapes only by means of outrageous luck. Some readers have objected to some of these methods of escape as relying too much upon coincidence. I believe that they miss the point. The sheer outlandish nature of some of the escapes is all part of the humor.The artwork is terrific. Herge is especially good with elaborate machines: ocean liners, sailboats, roadsters, airplanes, trains, and guns. But then there are the wonderful landscapes of Arabian cities, Singapore, the Indian jungle, and the Sahara Desert. And there are also animals: horses, mountain lions, deer, tigers, and Chinese dragons. My one quibble is that the size of the book is smaller than the originals, shrinking the print and preventing the pictures from having their full effect.
As a fan of Tin Tin for many years, I was enthusiastic about getting this version to share with my 2-year-old daughter. The art is still wonderful, but I wish I had paid more attention to the dimensions of the book. It is VERY SMALL, and so is the text. I'm only in my 40s and I can barely read it! If you have a magnifying glass handy, you're in luck. I imagine it's also very good for people who are incredibly nearsighted, or those who require very small hardbound books for travel or storage purposes. Other than that, if you're looking for something you can actually read, with pictures large enough to see detail, check out other offerings. This book is beautifully made...I just can't read it.

The bad news: the small format of these books doesn't do justice to Herge's distinctive artwork.In "Tintin in America", the crusading reporter Tintin and his faithful dog Snowy take on the Chicago. In a story laden with mob stereotypes, Tintin survives one dangerous encounter after another, finally ending up out West in pursuit of a fleeing mob boss. The two will play cowboy and indian in a thrilling finale.In "Cigars of the Pharoah", Tintin and Snowy run afoul of a drug-smuggling operation while visiting Egypt on a cruise ship. The chase takes Tintin to the desert, the Red Sea, and finally to the jungles of India for a showdown with the drug gang. This adventure is noteworthy for introducing the bumbling detectives Thompson and Thomson, and recurring villain Rastopopolus."The Blue Lotus" has Tintin and Snowy continuing their pursuit of the drug smugglers into war-torn China. Tintin takes refuge at the International Settlement in Shanghai, where he befriends the young boy Chang, and where he finds much official corruption and personal danger.Herge did extensive research in support of his carefully detailed plots, some of which are now a bit dated. Fans will often forgive the storylines for the sake of Herge's simple yet wonderfully detailed artwork, and for that, this reviewer recommends a larger format, if you can find it.

This book is a good addition to the series and as well done as the two previous books. My rating is based on an issue with the first half of the book where the reader is dealing with two separate stories. I like to immerse myself in a story, and jumping back and forth between the different plots breaks that immersion.On the plus side, when the two stories finally merge, the action is non-stop. The last half of the book is five stars for me. As with the second book in the series, this also introduces two new main characters and describes their growing relationship. The second plot line brings the main characters from the first book into the mix.Gun Brooke does a marvelous job in creating unique and well-defined characters, and that extends to the antagonists in her stories, too. This book is an excellent romance set in a sci-fi universe. This is my third reading of the series, so obviously, I do recommend it for fans of lesbian romances.
I rarely write book reviews anymore because it seems like if your don't like someone's favorite author people hate the review but in this case I really like this author. I've read most of her book and while they are good they follow pretty much the same formula. Two women get together, can't stand each other, one gets injured or is in some type of damage and the other one can't imagine living with out them.All that being said I love the supreme constellations series. I bought the books back in 2012 and have read them numerous times over. The first one sets the scene for the rest of them so I'd say read that first. The second book, rebels quest, is a great story. I like the new characters. The third book, Warrior's Valor, is by far my least favorite. I'm not crazy about the characters or the supernatural/mystical stuff at the end. But the secondary story follows the other books so I'd still recommend it. The last book, Pirate's Fortune, is my favorite. I like the characters, I like the bad guys and I love the story.She later wrote Change Horizons, which is three short stories with has charters from the previous books. I didn't like any of these stories. While actually I read the first two and didn't start the third one because I was so tired of the same plot line, I don't like you but I'm attracted to you.I've started her new scifi series and while I enjoy it it doesn't come close to this series.I highly recommend this series and if you like this one I would also highly recommend The Celaeno Series.

I really enjoy this series but the thrid one seems odd in my humble opinion. I mean I don't really understand why the main characters jump to become a couple. I feel they are put together instead of strong reasons & links together.It's quite a disappointment compare to previous two books. Each scene of this book may be good, but not able to be linked together by me.Again this is only little me. I will still be looking forward to any new tittle from the talented authors. I only not really in tune with this one. Sigh.
I have been very pleased with this series by Gun Brooke. I look forward to reading more from her. Her imagination is inspiring. I was riveted by the first book in the series, "Protector of the Realm". I read it over and over again. I am a fan. I would suggest reading the first book and see if you like the series. Check it out!!
